Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. In the affected vehicles, the stem that connects the outside emergency door handle to the emergency door opening mechanism may corrode.

If the stem corrodes, the door handle could detach from the emergency door opening mechanism, delaying the opening of the door and the evacuation of the bus. In the event of an emergency, this may increase the risk of injury to the bus occupants.

The affected lifts are equipped with folding link arms that may have pivot holes that are too big, allowing the bearings to move out of position.

If the bearings move out of position, the stowed platform may have excessive movement resulting in failure of the platform mounting. This failure could cause the wheel chair lift platform to fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, increasing the risk of injury for the lift operator.

Descrição da Falha
A DAIMLER TRUCKS está chamando de segurança para certos Saf-T-Liner C2 e Saf-T-Liner HDX de modelos 2008-2011, fabricados até maio de 2010, equipados com motores Detroit Diesel EPA 2007. O software do motor pode não reagir corretamente a certos códigos de falha de dispositivos de tratamento aftermarket, o que pode causar o desligamento inesperado do veículo ou falhar em desligá-lo quando há falha de superaquecimento no dispositivo.
Consequências
O desligamento inesperado do veículo aumenta o risco de acidentes. Se o dispositivo de tratamento superaquecer e o motor não desligar, pode causar um incêndio.
Solução
A DAIMLER TRUCKS notificará os proprietários e realizará a reparação sem custos, através da Detroit Diesel. Este chamado de segurança começou em 30 de dezembro de 2010. Os proprietários podem contactar a DAIMLER TRUCKS pelo telefone 1-800-547-0712.
