Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Volkswagen Up 2018 have recalls?

Yes, the Volkswagen Up 2018 has 2 recall campaigns on record in the official vehicle-safety databases. See the details of each campaign below.

How do I check whether my Volkswagen Up 2018 has a pending recall?

The most accurate way is to enter the VIN number (17 digits, located on the dashboard or driver's door) into the NHTSA lookup tool at nhtsa.gov or into this site's VIN search. The VIN lets you identify recalls specific to your vehicle's serial number.

What should I do if my Volkswagen Up has a recall?

You should contact the nearest authorized Volkswagen dealership with the vehicle's VIN number. The recall repair is completely free for the owner. In cases of serious risk, authorities may recommend not using the vehicle until the repair is carried out.

How much does it cost to fix a Volkswagen Up recall?

Nothing. By law, all recalls must be fixed free of charge by the manufacturer or importer, regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage. If a dealership charges for a recall service, that is an irregularity that should be reported to the relevant consumer-protection authority.

Is it safe to drive the Volkswagen Up 2018 with a pending recall?

It depends on the type of recall. Faults in braking, airbag or steering systems can pose an immediate risk and justify not using the vehicle. Preventive or cosmetic recalls generally allow normal use of the vehicle while the repair is scheduled. Always consult the official recall document for the specific recommendation.
